Yesterday on Fox News Newt Gingrich slammed Speaker Paul Ryan for not outright supporting Donald Trump. Earlier in the day Paul Ryan was on CNN which he said he was not ready to support Donald Trump. Gingrich told Hannity it was a "big mistake" for Ryan not to endorse Trump. Gingrich also said, "He is the Speaker of the House. He has an obligation to unify the party. He has an obligation to reach out. Obviously he and Donald Trump are going to have disagreements. Some of them will work out and some of them they won’t. That’s fine. Our constitution provides that Speakers and Presidents can fight, but I think he sends the wrong signal and a signal which I think endangers the House Republicans and endangers the Senate Republicans." You can watch the full interview of Gingrich on Hannity in the below video.

Yesterday while on Special Report, Bret Baier asked Donald Trump about the possible Vice Presidential candidates. Bret Bair asked Donald Trump about a report saying his campaign was considering Susana Martinez, Rob Portman and Nikki Haley for Vice President. Trump's response was “No, not Nikki Haley, no Nikki Haley no, she wasn’t under consideration.” Nikki Haley has stated in the past she was not interested in being Trump's Vice President. During the primary she endorsed Marco Rubio however she has stated should would support Donald Trump for President. You can watch the full interview below. New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez Landing the popular and telegenic governor of New Mexico would be a coup for Trump. Ohio Governor John Kasich Kasich is trail-tested and, as the popular governor of a critical swing state, must be included on any vice presidential short-list. Retired Neurosurgeon Ben Carson Trump told The New York Times on Wednesday that Carson will play an important role in the VP search. That would seem to take him off the board, although Dick Cheney had the same charge for President George W. Bush in 2000 and ended up finding himself. Florida Senator Marco Rubio It’s hard to envision a Trump-Rubio ticket after the two spent weeks hurling personal insults at one another before Trump finally triumphed over “Little Marco.” New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Christie doesn’t bring a swing state with him, and as the primary showed, he has a large national profile but not much of a base. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich Trump said Wednesday he’s looking for a candidate with “great political experience” who speaks the language of Washington and will help him with outreach to lawmakers. Florida Governor Rick Scott Trump has said he’s considering Scott as a vice presidential candidate. General James Mattis Mattis, a legendary, straight-talking four-star retired Marine Corps general whose nicknames include “Warrior Monk” and “Mad Dog,” might be right up Trump’s alley. Tennessee Representative Marsha Blackburn The outspoken Tennessee Republican is a veteran legislator with more than a decade of experience on Capitol Hill. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley The fast-rising GOP star is a young, telegenic, charismatic Indian-American and one of the most popular governors in the country. The most interesting name on this list that the Hill posted is General James Mattis. From all the articles I have read this is the first time I saw his name mentioned as a Vice Presidential candidate. I have seen his name come up in the past for a potential independent run for President. However recently he has said he would not run as an independent for President. As far as I know I do not believe he has made any public comments about Donald Trump.
With all the Republican candidates officially out of the race, Donald Trump now looks to select a Vice President. We have compiled a list of potential Donald Trump Vice presidential candidates.
To pick the right Vice Presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign has to start the vetting process on each potential Vice Presidential candidate. Yesterday, May 4, 2016, Donald Trump told the New York Times that Ben Caron will be on the committee to help search for the a Vice President. Donald Trump has said that he won't make a final decision on a Vice President until July. Trump has also said that he is looking for a Vice President with political experience. The source of this information is US News. Donald Trump is now officially the Republican Party's presumptive nominee. Ted Cruz is out. Marco Rubio dropped out after he lost Florida. The only candidate that is left is Kasich. It's time for Kasich to get out. John Kasich is now in fourth place in a two man race. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are both out of the race and they both have more delegates than John Kasich.
Donald Trump has basically wrapped up the Republican nomination. Within a few weeks Donald Trump will officially be named the presumptive nominee. With Ted Cruz doing the unprecedented move of picking a Vice Presidential candidate after losing six states in a row and being mathematically eliminated from the nomination the question now becomes who will be Donald Trump's Vice President.
I expect Donald Trump not to pick a Vice Presidential nominee until after he officially becomes the nominee. I also expect Ted Cruz to pick a cabinet after he loses a few more primaries. Thats a joke. Below is a list of possible Vice Presidential candidates. There has been a push that Trump should pick a female as his Vice President. The reasoning for this would be first off to combat Hillary Clinton and her woman card. Second reason is Trump polls poorly with women. Those possible candidates would be Joni Ernst, Kelly Ayotte, Marsha Blackburn, Susana Martinez, Marly Fallin, Nikki Haley and Condoleezza Rice. Others say Donald Trump should pick a minority to be his Vice President. Those possible candidates would be Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, Brian Sandoval, Susana Martinez, Condoleezza Rice and Ben Carson. Personally speaking I do not think we should focus on picking a Vice President to gain a demographic. The best qualified person should be selected Vice President. Whenever someone is picked purely based off of getting a voter block that candidate is usually not ready for the job. Members of Congress:
Governors:
Others:
After meeting with Republican National Chair Reince Priebus, Donald Trump has just announced he will sign the Republican Party “loyalty pledge." This means Trump will agree to not run as a third party Presidential candidate if he did not get the Republican nomination.
